An endometrial polyp is a localized overgrowth of the uterine lining. Although most polyps are benign, they pose a serious threat: they can cause bleeding, interfere with pregnancy, or eventually degenerate into malignant tumors. Why should polyps be removed hysteroscopically?
Outdated methods, such as conventional curettage (“cleaning”), are performed blindly. In this case, often only the top of the polyp is removed, while its root remains, leading to recurrence (re-growth).
Hysteroscopic resection at our clinic means:
- Visual control: The doctor sees the polyp on the monitor screen with high magnification.
- Radicality: We precisely cut off the polyp and coagulate (cauterize) its base to prevent re-growth in that area.
- Safety for the endometrium: The surrounding healthy uterine tissue is not traumatized, which is critically important for women planning pregnancy.
When is surgery necessary?

- Detection of a polyp on ultrasound (even if it does not bother you, as there is a risk of oncology).

- Anesthesia: Safe intravenous anesthesia (medicated sleep) is used. You will fall asleep and wake up after the procedure is completed.
- Course of the operation: A hystero-resectoscope is inserted through natural passages. The doctor examines the cavity, locates the polyp, and removes it with a loop electrode or scissors.
- Histology: The removed material is necessarily sent for histological examination to rule out the presence of atypical (cancerous) cells.
- Discharge: Within a few hours (or the next day), the patient returns home.
